بطاقة الشبكة (network interface
adapter،
وتسمى network
interface card أو NIC) هي:
المكون الذي يزود الوصلة بين الكمبيوتر والشبكة.
- A network interface adapter (called a network interface card, or
NIC) is:
the
component that provides the link between a computer and the network.

تنفذ بطاقة الشبكة وسائقها (driver) معظم وظائف بروتوكول طبقة وصلة

- On a computer on a LAN:

data-link layer protocol and the physical layer.

- بطاقات الشبكة لا تقتصر على الكمبيوترات، فهناك أجهزة

- الشبكة SAN
هي:
شبكة منفصلة مكرسة للاتصالات بين الملقمات وأجهزة التخزين الخارجية، كالمصفوفة المتكررة من الأقراص المستقلة (Redundant Array of Independent Disks
أو RAID).
معظم بطاقات الشبكة SAN تستعمل بروتوكول يدعى Fibre Channel بدلا من أحد بروتوكولات الشبكة LAN القياسية، كالايثرنت و التوكن
رينغ.
- A SAN is:
a separate network dedicated
to communications between servers and external storage devices, such as redundant array of independent disks
(RAID) arrays. Most SAN adapters use a protocol called Fibre Channel
rather than one of the standard LAN protocols, such as Ethernet and Token Ring.
