- ماهي الشبكة؟
هي وصل كمبيوترين او اكثر كي يتمكنا من الاتصال فيما بينهما.
- What is the Network?

1- لمشاركة موارد الاجهزة.

وسائط الشبكة هي:
التقنية التي توص الكمبيوترات الشبكية ببعضها مهما يكن الشكل الذي تاخذه.

LAN : Local Area Network
- الشبكة LAN هي:
مجموعة من الأجهزة قريبة من بعضها نسبيا وموصولة من خلال وسائط شائعة.
- A LAN is :
A LAN is a group of computers located within relatively close proximity and connected by a common medium.

- العقدة :
كل جهاز كمبيوتر او جهاز اتصال على الشبكة LAN.
- The Node:
Each computer or other communicating device on the LAN.

- تتميز الشبكة LAN بثلاث سمات أساسية:
1- الطوبولوجيا
2- الوسائط
3- البروتوكولات

1- bus topology

- في طوبولوجيا الخط (الباص) :
هناك كبل يوصل كل كمبيوتر بالتالي مما يشكل سلسلة.
- In a bus topology :
a network cable connects each computer to the next one, forming a chain.

- في طوبولوجيا النجمة :
يكون كل كمبيوتر موصول برابطة مركزية تسمى موزع كبلات (hub) او بدالة(switch).
- In a star topology:
each computer is connected to a central nexus called a hub or switch.

- طوبولوجيا الحلقة :
هي في الاساس شبكة خطية(باصية) يكون الطرفان فيها موصولان ببعضهما.
- A ring topology:
is essentially a bus network with the two ends joined together.

- وسائط الشبكة كما هو معروف سابقا :
هي الوصلة الفعلية بين الكمبيوترات الشبكية.
- The network medium, as defined previously:
is the actual physical connection between the networked computers.

- الشبكة البينية :
هي توصيل عدة شبكات LAN باستعمال اجهزة تسمى الموجهات (Routers) وهي في الاساس شبكة شبكات.

- الشبكة WAN:
تتألف الشبكة WAN من شبكات LAN تتواجد في اماكن بعيدة.
- WAN Network:
WAN Network is composed of LANs in distant locations.

------------------------------------------------------------
- ارتباطات الشبكة WAN هي :
وصلات نقطة لنقطة.
- WAN links are :
usually point-to-point connections.

- مما يعني انها :
توصل نظامين فقط.
- meaning that they:
connect only two systems.

- هذا معاكس مباشرة لـ :
للشبكة LAN التي يمكنها ان توصل عدة انظمة سوية باستعمال وسائط مشتركة.
- This is in direct contrast to:
a LAN, which can connect many systems together using a shared network medium.

- مثال على وصلة شبكة WAN
شركة ذات مكتبين في مدن بعيدة كل مكتب له شبكة LAN الخاصة وتصل بواسطة خط هاتف مؤجر الشبكة موضحة في الشكل (1-1).

a company with two offices in distant cities, each with its own LAN and connected by a leased telephone line. This type of WAN connection is illustrated in Figure 1-1.

- الشبكة MAN:
هي شبكة بيانات تخدم ناحية اكبر من التي تخدمها الشبكة LAN واصغر من التي تخدمها الشبكة WAN.
- MAN Network:
Is a data network that services an area larger than a LAN does and smaller than a WAN does.

- الانواع الاكثر شيوعيا هذه الايام للشبكة MAN هي:
شبكات الالياف الضوئية التي يديرها مزود تلفزيون الكبل (CATV).
- The most common types of MAN implementation seen today are:
the fiber-optic networks run by cable television (CATV) providers.
